In the case of a clog, you may be able to remove it yourself using remedies available at a home improvement store. However, if these tactics don’t work, or the clog returns, it may be best to consult a professional plumber because it may hint a bigger issue or an even bigger pipe blockage.

Monster #2: Running Toilets

This is an issue that can cause water bills to skyrocket and have your wallet running scared. Luckily, this monster is easily stopped by checking the flapper valve in the toilet’s tank. First, remove the lid of the tank, and then make sure no water is getting through the valve that covers the pipe leading to the toilet. Of course, if this monster continues to make appearances make sure to call a plumber to keep your water bills low.

Monster #3: Weak Water Pressure

This can be an especially large problem for showers and even sinks. The source of the problem is limescale buildup in the shower head, which keeps water from passing through. This monster is often not caused by an underlying pipe issue, but by the contents of the shower water as it passes through the head. To send this monster back to where it came from, all you need to do is remove the showerhead and soak it in a descaling solution. There are even some home remedies for this, like soaking the shower-head in vinegar. After letting the shower head soak, all you need to do is reattach it and enjoy a relaxing shower.

Monster #4: Leaky Faucets

This monster is another one that can lead to higher water bills and even damage to your sink. This problem is exactly what it sounds like: water keeps dripping from the sink even after the faucet is turned to the off position. Fortunately, the solution can be just as simple. The cause of this issue is often just a worn-out washer. This can be repaired by turning off the water and installing a new washer.
