Employee Spotlight: Sky Hill

Everyone knows that most holidays have their respective “celebrities”. It’s common knowledge that Christmas claims Santa Claus, Easter has the Easter Bunny, and Valentine’s Day boasts Cupid. However, there was no traditional figure associated with Halloween…until now.

Introducing The Waterworks’ very own, self-proclaimed “Halloween Queen,” Sky Hill. Aside from being Halloween royalty, Hill is a Customer Service Supervisor here at The Waterworks, and enjoys cosplaying in her spare time. She “loves all things spooky and fun,” which she says is the embodiment of the holiday itself.

In Halloweens’ past, Hill has dressed up as famous socialite Zelda Fitzgerald, blockbuster’s anti-hero Harley Quinn, an adorable Yip-Yip Martians from Sesame Street, and, most recently, a piece of poop at The Waterworks – isn’t plumbing humor the best!? As she is a frequent cosplayer, she explains that “costuming is a huge part of my life, and what better time of year for costuming than Halloween?”

However, her costume isn’t the only memorable aspect of the holiday; her favorite Halloween memory is when her band played a Halloween show three years in a row at The Treebar, a venue formerly known as Andyman’s Treehouse.

“[This Halloween party] is where your band picks another band to dress up as and play cover songs,” she explains. “The last two times we were the Cure and played to a full house.”

As Halloween is right around the corner, we asked the Queen herself if she had any advice for this year’s tricksters.

“If possible, pick a costume that will be weather appropriate,” Hill advises. “It can ruin your night out if it’s near freezing and you decided to dress up as a Malibu Barbie or a cheerleader.”

From Sky and everyone at The Waterworks, have a spooktacular Halloween!
