Hose it off thoroughly
Empty the trash can, take it outside, and spray it with a hose.
Use a cleaning solution to clean and disinfect the garbage can
There are many products on the market that you can use for this. Clorox Clean-Up, Mr. Clean, Lysol Multi-purpose Cleaner with Bleach – they are all excellent choices. You can also make your own cleaner by mixing ¾ cup of chlorine bleach and one tablespoon of laundry into one gallon of warm water.
Scrub, rinse, dry
Use a toilet bowl brush or any type of scrub brush with a handle to thoroughly scrub the inside and outside of your trash can. Rinse it out thoroughly and then pat it dry.
