Your Local Plumbing and HVAC Contractor Near Ohio State
University District properties face specific challenges. Craftsman-era homes along Indianola Avenue and the Tudor Revivals in Old North Columbus often have galvanized steel pipes, undersized drain lines, and gravity-fed sewer connections. Rental properties near campus see heavy use from tenants cycling in and out every year. Commercial spaces along High Street depend on working HVAC to keep customers and employees comfortable.
Delaying repairs creates bigger problems. A small leak behind a wall turns into mold damage. A furnace running on a cracked heat exchanger pushes carbon monoxide into living spaces. A clogged sewer line in a multi-unit rental can shut down an entire building.
The Waterworks has served Central Ohio since 1986. Our technicians are state-licensed, background-checked, and trained to work on both residential and commercial systems. We provide straightforward pricing before work begins, so there are no surprises on the invoice.

Common HVAC & Plumbing Problems in University District Homes
Older homes in neighborhoods like Weinland Park, Tuttle Park, and Dennison Place share similar issues. Here are the problems we see most often:
- Slow or backed-up drains: Tree roots from mature street trees push into clay sewer pipes. Grease buildup in older kitchen lines adds to the blockage.
- Low water pressure: Galvanized steel pipes corrode from the inside over time. This reduces flow to faucets and showerheads. Repiping with copper or PEX restores full pressure.
- Uneven heating or cooling: Older ductwork develops gaps at joints and connections. Single-zone systems cannot keep multi-story homes at a consistent temperature.
- Furnace cycling on and off: Dirty flame sensors, clogged filters, or a failing thermostat can cause short-cycling. This wastes energy and wears out components faster.
- Water heater running out of hot water: Sediment buildup in the tank reduces capacity over time. In multi-tenant rentals, a standard 40-gallon tank often cannot keep up with demand.
- Frozen or burst pipes: Exposed pipes in uninsulated crawl spaces and exterior walls freeze during Central Ohio cold snaps. Quick response prevents water damage to floors and walls.

Everything went very smooth and as expected with no surprises! Very pleased and would highly recommend!! Will be using again in the future!
Victor was great -got us all fixed up the same day and prevented our basement from flooding
Water backed up into the drain in my basement. I called Waterworks in the morning and a plumber was here within a couple of hours. I was informed as to when he would arrive, and he did. He assessed the problem, gave me a quote, and when I agreed to what u think was a reasonable price, he had everything needed to fix the problem in his truck. I am quite satisfied.
I really appreciate the good service that I had today from Will. You guys continue to surpass my expectations. Thanks for being there for me and my family!
Great service. Very thorough and professional Collin gets 5 stars for great communication and explanations. Felt very satisfied with the end results
I own a property management firm and Waterworks is our go-to for all of our plumbing and drain needs. I've also personally used their heating and cooling services. Waterworks has always been extremely reliable, cost-effective, and easy to work with. Their technicians have always been very professional as well. I'm constantly amazed how such a large, professional firm delivers a consistent, quality experience.
I can’t give enough stars to Jay Markham, he saved me almost 20k. Another company advised that I needed every gas line in my house replaced and they wouldent get in my crawl space. Jay came out and actually listened and cared. He tested everything 2 or 3x and answered any questions I had. it ended up being bad valves. I had already been without Gas for a whole week.. I can’t say enough about this kid. But thank you!!
I was very happy and impressed with the service I received. From the initial estimate to the final installation everything went exactly as planned. The two technicians were very professional and respected my property. They explain the installation in detail and the operation of my new furnace, AC unit and thermostat. And they kept the utility room probably cleaner than it was before they got here.. I would highly recommend JonLe heating and cooling.
Highly recommend them - always very professional, polite, efficient and helpful.
Chris, the Waterworks technician assigned to check our dripping kitchen faucet and bathroom shower, quickly analyzed the problem with each as a faulty cartridge controlling hot & cold lines to the respective taps. When it became difficult to unfasten the kitchen faucet handle, due to accumulated calcium deposits, he voluntarily called up Delta service and while also attending to the shower problem, managed to convince the Delta rep to send us a full replacement kitchen faucet, “free of charge”!!! Chris then deftly replaced the defective cartridge in the bathroom shower. We have a notice from Delta that the replacement will arrive in roughly 12 days, so we are very pleased with the entire experience.
Our technician Ryan was great! Came right on time and was pleasant and informative. Ryan was looking great and shared his sources story with us. We are really happy for him. We love working with Ryan and Jonle! Thank you!
The technicians were professional, efficient and knowledgable. The technicians were on time and very friendly. They scheduled an appt.for us quickly when we called them. Would definitely recommend them to other people. I have a silver contract with them and am very happy with that.
Mike Spry and his team were fantastic. This was a big job installing backflow preventer on our fire suppression system. They coordinated everything with the city (which is no easy task). They had the job done in a very timely manner. And they made sure not to interfere with our regular business operations throughout the work. Very appreciative!
Awesome customer service. Chris was very polite, professional and very knowledgeable.
Over the past years, starting in 2014, we have used Waterworks for any of our plumbing issues. Recently we had issues regarding Plumbing, HVAC and Drain issues. Waterworks approach, was to assign an expert to each of these issues. The results have been excellent in each. Pricing is very good. Last year we were having sump pump issues. Waterworks checked everything. They recommended installing a Backup Sump Pump System. We did this and it is wonderful. We Highly Recommend Waterworks!
Strong communication, courteous and friendly service. Would highly reccomend.
Collin did an excellent job. He gave us a price on the work to be done and that we needed to contact the city to turn off the water to the house. Will make an appoint to replace the water shut-off valve in the next couple of weeks.
I had an emergency backup that I needed cleared same day. I have used other companies in the past that resolve the problem at a low cost but want to come out later and sell expensive fixes. The experience with Waterworks was that they wanted to fix the drain blockage to the best of their ability at that time. If further work needed done it could still be evaluated, but there was more than a bandaid on my current issue.
We had a miserable waste line backup that flooded a good portion of our basement. Waterworks was the only company available to come out same-day. Samuel arrived within two hours of my initial call, unclogged the waste pipe, cleared the floor drain - allowing the backup to clear - and had us back in business for 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of the other companies’ estimates… and the other companies would’ve left us with standing sewage backup in our basement for at least another 24 hours. I wouldn’t hesitate to have Samuel come out for any of our future plumbing nightmares. 🙂
I was looking into a possible blockage in my sewer line or issues with toilet. No issues with toilets although they may need replacement if not providing sufficient pressure during flushing. Asked about possible quote to replace faucets and shutoff valves. I can purchase my own faucets and toilets (if needed) and the rest will be provided by Waterworks. Quite informative visit 👍.
Tim did a fantastic job today, servicing our HVAC system. Tim is an example of the professionalism and courteousness of all the folks at JonLe. He was very courteous and answered all the questions we had. That’s why we have been loyal customers for many, many years.
Wade came out (the same day I called), to snake my clogged downspout drain. I told him I've often had tree roots in the line, so he put a cutting bit on the snake & went to work. He was a really nice guy who was eager to help, and he did a stellar job. I'm looking forward to losing the wet in the basement!
We have been using JonLe for years. Always professional and courteous. Very trustworthy. Thank you
I have been a Jonle regular for a lot of years. I actually have never been disappointed by any of the techs Jonle have sent. They are polite trustworthy types. When Cory was finished with the service, he asked there was anything else he could do for me before he left. I asked about the basement lights being off. He let a light on that was on when he went down. He ran back downstairs for me and turned it off. Not a service requirement. But it is something a nice guy does for an getting older lady.
JonLe is a professional organization. Technicians are knowledgeable and professional. I have used JohLe for over 25 years.
Very professional and knowledgeable technician. I was very impressed with the service.
I was impressed but this company. They got here quick sent a text with technical's picture saying he was on the way. Since my husband couldn't be here it made me feel safe just knowing who was coming. Matt was very professional and nice took time to explain the issue with our boiler system along with pictures showing the damage. Waiting on estimates for part replacement versus replacement of boiler. Great job that's for going above all rest. The picture text A+
Waterworks has been my go-to for years, and they consistently deliver excellent service. Easy, timely scheduling, and they always send experienced, knowledgeable professionals who take the time to thoroughly explain what's going on and walk me through my options. I especially appreciate that they don't just fix the issue - they take the time to answer my questions and provide guidance so I can maintain things myself going forward. They stick to their original quotes when things become more complicated and provide options to manage my costs (e.g. order a part myself.) I had two services in the past two weeks: a kitchen sink installation that required reconfiguring and replacing all of the hardware underneath, and a toilet repair for which the part was not available, but the rep helped me order the correct part and provided enough instruction to install it when it arrives.
My experience with The Waterworks has been very good. Michael assessed my plumbing issues and made necessary repairs. I really appreciated the fact he pointed out that I didn't need the service I thought I did. Thus, I was not overcharged. I recommend The Waterworks if you need plumbing service.
The service was excellent and the young man who came out was very professional.
Standard toilet clog they were here within 2 hours.thays why I'm a loyal customer
Very impressed with the courtesy and knowledge of plumber Jonathan. He was able to repair the leak in record time having to cut pipes etc. Great job. Emergency service is stressful!
Chris showed up 2 hours early (after a courtesy call). The service call was not needed as it was my own naivety that caused this situation. Chris clearly explained the dilemma and was out the door in 20 minutes. This is not the first time that I have had Water Works out to my house and it WILL NOT be the last. SUPER company!
They called ahead to see if they could come earlier, not an issue. Cory was respectful and worked quietly and finished his work with no issues. Highly recommend them.
We thought our sump pump had failed and needed to be replaced. Tech showed up on time and found that the breaker had been flipped. No pressure to purchase something we didn't need....he just flipped the breaker, told us that was what was wrong, told us he turned it on and confirmed the sump pump was working and left. Great experience! Will definitely call them again if we have another issue!
