HVAC & Plumbing Services in Lancaster, OH — Fast Repairs
When your heat goes out on a freezing January night or a sewer line backs up without warning, you need a licensed contractor who can show up quickly and fix it right. Lancaster is the county seat of Fairfield County, located roughly 35 miles southeast of Columbus along US-33. The city has a rich industrial history, and its residential neighborhoods reflect that legacy — many homes in areas like Ewing Park, the West Side, and the historic districts near downtown were built in the early to mid-1900s. Older properties throughout Lancaster often still run on aging plumbing infrastructure and original HVAC equipment that was never designed to last this long. The Waterworks Plumbing, Drain, Heating & Cooling provides full-service HVAC and plumbing services in Lancaster, OH to homeowners, rental property owners, landlords, and local businesses in 43130.
Call The Waterworks at (614) 490-2149 today to schedule HVAC or plumbing service in Lancaster, OH.
Your Local Plumbing and HVAC Contractor in Lancaster
Lancaster properties come with challenges that are specific to the region’s age, climate, and construction history. Homes near Memorial Drive, Maple Avenue, and the Sheridan Drive corridors were built decades ago with galvanized steel supply lines, cast iron drain pipes, and single-zone heating systems that were standard for their era but are well past their service life. Properties in older subdivisions on the city’s east and west sides often sit on crawl spaces or slab foundations where pipe damage and slow leaks go undetected until they cause serious structural problems. Historic homes closer to downtown Lancaster face the added complexity of outdated wiring, narrow mechanical rooms, and mixed-generation plumbing that has been patched and extended over multiple decades.
Delaying repairs compounds the cost. A slow drain becomes a full sewer backup. A furnace running on a cracked heat exchanger pushes carbon monoxide through the home’s living spaces. A small water line leak inside a crawl space leads to mold growth and wood rot that takes far longer and costs far more to remediate than the original pipe repair.
The Waterworks has served Central Ohio since 1986. Our technicians are state-licensed, background-checked, and trained to work on both residential and commercial systems. We provide straightforward pricing before any work begins, so there are no surprises on the final invoice.

Common HVAC & Plumbing Problems in Lancaster Homes
Older homes throughout Lancaster’s established neighborhoods share a predictable set of issues. These are the problems our technicians encounter most often:
Slow or backed-up drains: Mature trees throughout Lancaster’s older neighborhoods send roots into aging clay and cast iron sewer pipes. Grease accumulation in kitchen drain lines compounds the blockage over time. Video camera inspection identifies the location before any digging begins.
Low water pressure: Galvanized steel supply pipes corrode from the inside out, narrowing the interior passage and restricting flow to faucets and fixtures. Repiping with copper or PEX restores full water pressure and eliminates the risk of a pipe failure.
Uneven heating or cooling: Older ductwork in Lancaster’s two-story and ranch-style homes develops gaps at joints and elbows over time. Single-zone HVAC systems cannot maintain consistent temperatures across multiple floors or large floor plans. Duct sealing and zoning upgrades address the problem without replacing the entire system.
Furnace short-cycling: Dirty flame sensors, clogged filters, or a failing thermostat cause the furnace to turn on and off repeatedly without completing a full heating cycle. Short-cycling wastes energy and accelerates wear on the heat exchanger and blower motor.
Water heater running out of hot water: Sediment accumulates at the bottom of storage tank water heaters over the years, reducing heating capacity and forcing the burner to work harder. Tanks in Lancaster homes from the 1970s and 1980s are well past their expected service life.
Frozen or burst pipes: Exposed supply lines in uninsulated crawl spaces and exterior walls of older Lancaster homes are vulnerable during Central Ohio cold snaps. Rapid response limits water damage to floors, walls, and structural framing.
Slab leaks: Homes built on concrete slab foundations in Lancaster can develop leaks in the copper supply lines that run beneath the slab. Early detection through pressure testing and acoustic equipment prevents extensive concrete and floor damage.

Frequently Asked Questions About HVAC & Plumbing in Lancaster
Locate and shut off the main water valve immediately. This stops the flow and limits damage to floors, walls, and ceilings. Then call (614) 490-2149 for emergency plumbing service. Our team responds quickly to Lancaster addresses in 43130 and surrounding Fairfield County communities.

Lancaster and Fairfield County require permits for certain plumbing projects, including water line installation, gas line work, and sewer connections. As a state-licensed contractor, The Waterworks manages the permit process on your behalf so you do not have to coordinate with the city yourself.
Start with a clean HVAC filter and confirm your ventilation system is operating correctly. Adding a whole-house humidifier helps combat the dry air that comes with Ohio winters. UV germicidal lights installed in your ductwork reduce airborne bacteria and mold that cycle through the home every time the system runs.
Watch for rusty or discolored water from hot taps, popping or rumbling sounds coming from the tank, puddles around the base of the unit, or water that no longer heats consistently. Most storage tank water heaters last 8 to 12 years. If yours is approaching or past that range, replacement is typically more cost-effective than repeated repairs. Todd showed up at the house promptly very professional very informative. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience thank you, Todd.
Emily was AMAZING, efficient, professional, and knowledgeable!! Hope to have her for any other plumbing issues and will recommend her at every opportunity!
The is a great company. Called for service and they came out the next day. Service tech Conrad showed up early for the appointment. Explained our concern about a damp wall. He did a through checked inside and out but could find an issue with drain pipe or plumbing. Gave advice for what may be causing it. He stated there was no charge. Wow with experience with other company that was refreshing. Had water works out years ago they replaced drain pipe in front yard. They just always go quality work. Highly recommend.
Service was easy to schedule. Technician called within the designated window and about 40 minutes prior to arrival. Technician was courteous and professional. The technician explained the cause of the problem in understandable terms. The repair was completed promptly and at a reasonable cost.
Edit: They contacted me a couple days later (and a couple days after the initial review) and did ultimately honor their original quote, so have updated to 4 stars. Dino is a great tech to work with. Original review: Tech was friendly, professional, and seemed knowledgeable. Also used shoe covers indoors, which was appreciated. Low rating is because I was told over the phone (I believe by Barbara, though I was told this by 2 different people by phone and I didn't write down the names) that the price I was quoted was for both A/C and furnace maintenance together in one trip. I was instead told when the tech arrived that price was only for A/C and it would be double that price for both. Miscommunications can happen, though twice on the same day made this feel like a bait-and-switch. Had I known, I would have gone with the other company I got a quote from that offered to do both for a little more than I was just charged for one (since I didn't want to deal with scheduling another appointment). Personally I won't use them for any additional services or recommend them to friends at minimum unless a written estimate is given.
John was straight to the point, kind, professional, and prompt. Went above and beyond to troubleshoot an issue that wouldn’t have otherwise been resolved. Checked with supervisor when he couldn’t answer something. Great service!
The technician was very professional. On the cost, I am on the gold plan so the cost is nil
We called JonLe heating and cooling in the morning with air conditioning issues. Steve arrived by 1:30 for service. Our unit was fixed within an hour at a very fair price.
I am very pleased with the work done by technician Devonte. He arrived on time..thoroughly looked at the problem and did a great job repairing the problem with the plumbing
Explained everything, very professional, and was on time. I definitely recommend!
Incredibly happy with the friendly quality (⬅️!!) service The Waterworks provided. They were straightforward and so helpful. My water line replacement was super tricky due to the features of my yard which I worried would be destroyed. Dylan, John, & Jeff did an AMAZING (!!!) job with almost no disturbance to my yard. Later crews promptly returned to fix my sidewalk and replant displaced grass. I could not be happier! Thank you 😊 🙏🏻
I have used Jonle heating & cooling for many years. The installed my new furnace and performs maintenance twice a year. They are reliable, curtious and always do a great job. I can rest easy knowing my furnace is in great condition.
The service was good. The workers were very respectable and were able to work with us on specific scheduling. They answered a lot of questions and made the whole process easier.
Waterworks promptly responded to my request for an annual inspection of my home's backflow valve. I placed the order at 9 a.m., and by 10 a.m. technician André Truss was at my door. He carried out the inspection efficiently, explained each step of the process, and provided valuable guidance on precautions for the upcoming winter. Excellent service—100% satisfied. Thank you! —Bruno Rosa
I have used Jonle for several years. They give notice of being on the way, they are always on time, very polite and professional. They do a thorough inspection. I highly recommend them for installation and repair.
I have in the past couple of house projects been conned/screwed over because I believe that since I’m now single because of my husband passing away they got away with it. I’ve gotten less naive with each time but I was still nervous & I admit…a little scared but from the first moment I met Tristan I knew he was going to be honest and professional. Thank you Waterworks and especially Tristan for your professionalism & honesty. Below is what it looked like before and then how beautiful it looks afterwards. 👍🏼
Jonle has kept us up and running for years using the Silver Service maintenance for air and heat.
Frank B was great. Very thorough in his review and presentation of our system and options to consider for our final decision.
Chet, from Waterworks, recently completed a repair on our shower. He had to track down a part to complete the repair. Even though it was late in the day and supply houses were closed, he was able to secure the part and correct the problem. He was polite, professional and competent. We have used Waterworks in the past and will continue to use them in the future, when needed.
I had two separate visits to have plumbing repairs and upgrades done on a recently purchased home. Both providers (Peter and Emily) were very courteous and personable. The work was quick and efficient. I didn't do any comparison pricing, and suspect you might be able to do a little better on pricing, but the work was an A.
It was a great experience (Well considering the drain was backed up) From the first contact to make the appointment to the service tech leaving my home there be nothing more that I could have asked for. Thank you and all of your team members.
We had a fantastic experience with Waterworks. After dealing with another company that immediately jumped to worst-case scenarios and expensive recommendations, it was a breath of fresh air to work with a team that focused on solving the actual problem. Not only were they professional and responsive, but they completed the work faster and at a significantly lower cost than the previous company quoted. Most importantly, they got it right the first time. The issue that kept returning after only 30 days with the previous contractor has not come back once since Waterworks completed the job. Their customer service was outstanding throughout the entire process. They took the time to explain what was happening, didn't use scare tactics, and treated us with honesty and respect. It's rare to find companies that combine great service, quality workmanship, and fair pricing, but they absolutely delivered. Highly recommend Waterworks to anyone looking for knowledgeable professionals who stand behind their work.
Professional, priced more than fair, great communication. Highly recommended
The Jonle guys just completed the 2x / year service and were great to work with. From putting booties on before they entered the house, to their quick, efficient and effective work, to their knowledge- all was great. I recommend them all the time!
Highly recommend JonLe Heating & Cooling! Our AC froze up a few weeks back. The "other guys" who didn't catch our AC leak during the spring tune-up appointment came out quoting crazy high costs to recharge, crazy high repair estimates, and provided us 4 new AC unit options with little information or context. Then the pressure tactics started the next day: only one unit left in stock, one appointment tomorrow and next available a week out, etc. After a reasonably priced recharge from a friend of a friend, I was able to extend the life of the AC in order to shop around. JonLe Heating & Cooling provided a free second opinion. Frank came out for a visit, assessed the current state, and worked with us to understand our AC concerns in order to quote the correct system for needs. We did not have to debate whether a seer X rated system was worth hundreds or thousands more than a seer Y rated system. Frank recommended and quoted a single system to us, and walked us through the specs and features and throroughly explained the pros/cons and why this system fit our needs. At that point, I was happy to leave the "choose your own adventure" pricing of the other guys behind. Admittedly, I was bracing myself for sticker shock, but feeling confident about spending money on the right system for us. I was pleasantly surprised that the system was not only better spec'd than the other guys "top tier" option, but was also THOUSANDS of dollars cheaper. Win-win! Install went smoothly. Techs were super friendly. Frank even stopped by to check in on the progress midday. And to top it all off, JonLe did not charge a processing fee for using a credit card. All around amazing experience with JonLe Heating & Cooling. Highly recommend!
Quick response! Jason was an excellent service tech. He was informative and efficient. Thank you so much.
The technician was great work was great . We just thought it was a little bit higher than we expected. But we do appreciate you getting to us so soon.
Jonle has been servicing my HVAC for years. Also installed my current systems. Always dependable with positive results. Their personnel are always courteous and helpful
Peter was our technician he showed up early and quickly repaired a gas leak behind the wall of our kitchen he was polite and friendly and explained to us what he was doing as the work was being done we feel he did an expert job of the repair and we really appreciated how reasonable the cost was considering the work involved thanks Peter!
Very happy they responded quickly and was able to perform emergency service after normal hours!
Great experience with Waterworks to tune up our AC this week. Tyler our technician showed up right on time, exactly when the company said he would - and he let us know he was on the way, which was very much appreciated. He was knowledgeable, personable, professional, and his communication skills are to be commended. Explained what he was working on every step of the way in a clear and easy way. The same goes for Garrett, the technician who showed up to work on the water heater. Overall, very pleased with the service and result. Prices are still a little high, but so far, worth it.
