HVAC & Plumbing Services in Whitehall, OH — Fast Repairs
When a furnace stops working during an Ohio winter or a sewer line backs up without warning, you need a licensed contractor who can show up and solve the problem. Whitehall is a close-knit suburban city located six miles east of Columbus in Franklin County, just minutes from John Glenn Columbus International Airport and the Defense Supply Center Columbus. After World War II, Whitehall became the nation’s fastest-growing city, with thousands of single-family homes built rapidly throughout the Norton Field, English Village, Parklawn Manor, and Old Whitehall subdivisions to meet demand from returning veterans. Most of these homes were constructed between the late 1940s and 1960s and many still rely on original or aging plumbing and HVAC systems. The Waterworks Plumbing, Drain, Heating & Cooling provides full-service HVAC and plumbing services in Whitehall, OH to homeowners, renters, landlords, and local businesses in 43213 and 43227.
Call The Waterworks at (614) 490-2149 today to schedule HVAC or plumbing service in Whitehall, OH.
Your Local Plumbing and HVAC Contractor in Whitehall
Whitehall properties carry the challenges that come with age and dense post-war construction. Prefabricated and tract homes along East Broad Street, East Main Street, and South Hamilton Road were built quickly in the early 1950s with galvanized steel supply lines, cast iron drain stacks, and single-zone heating systems that were never designed to last indefinitely. Twin singles and townhouses throughout English Village and Parklawn Manor share plumbing connections that can affect multiple units when one line fails. Homes on slab foundations throughout the Norton Homes subdivision sit in areas where slow slab leaks go undetected until water damage is already visible on floors and walls.
Delaying repairs creates bigger problems. A small leak inside a wall leads to mold. A furnace operating with a cracked heat exchanger pushes carbon monoxide into living spaces. A blocked sewer line in a multi-unit townhouse can shut down plumbing for an entire row of homes.
The Waterworks has served Central Ohio since 1986. Our technicians are state-licensed, background-checked, and trained to work on both residential and commercial systems. We provide straightforward pricing before any work begins, so there are no surprises on the invoice.

Common HVAC & Plumbing Problems in Whitehall Homes
Post-war homes throughout the Norton Field, English Village, Parklawn Manor, and Old Whitehall subdivisions tend to share the same plumbing and HVAC vulnerabilities. Here are the problems our technicians see most often in Whitehall:
Slow or backed-up drains: Mature trees lining Whitehall’s older residential streets send roots into aging clay sewer pipes. Decades of grease and debris accumulation in original drain lines adds to the blockage. Hydrojetting and camera inspection clear the line and show exactly what is causing the problem.
Low water pressure: Galvanized steel supply pipes corrode from the inside over time, narrowing the interior diameter until flow is reduced to a trickle at faucets and showerheads. Homes in Whitehall built during the late 1940s and 1950s are especially vulnerable. Repiping with copper or PEX restores full pressure throughout the home.
Uneven heating and cooling: Original single-zone HVAC systems were sized for smaller post-war floor plans. As homes have been expanded or converted over the decades, ductwork gaps and undersized equipment leave rooms too hot in summer and too cold in winter. Ductless mini-splits or zoning upgrades solve this without a full system replacement.
Furnace short-cycling: Dirty flame sensors, clogged air filters, or a failing thermostat cause the furnace to turn on and off repeatedly without completing a full heating cycle. Short-cycling wastes fuel, strains mechanical components, and shortens equipment life.
Water heater running out of hot water: Sediment accumulates at the bottom of storage tank water heaters over time, reducing available capacity and forcing the unit to work harder. In Whitehall homes still running original or undersized 40-gallon tanks, replacement is typically more cost-effective than repeated repairs.
Frozen or burst pipes: Homes throughout Whitehall with uninsulated crawl spaces, exposed exterior walls, or pipes routed through unheated utility rooms are at risk during Central Ohio cold snaps. A burst pipe can release hundreds of gallons before the homeowner realizes what has happened. Quick response limits water damage to floors, ceilings, and structural elements.
Slab leaks in Norton-area homes: Many homes built on slab foundations in the Norton Homes subdivision develop pressurized supply line leaks beneath the concrete. Signs include warm spots on the floor, unexplained spikes in the water bill, and the sound of running water when all fixtures are off.

Whitehall and Franklin County require permits for certain plumbing scopes, including water line installation, gas line installation, and sewer connections. As a state-licensed contractor, The Waterworks manages the permit process so you do not have to.
Start with a clean HVAC filter and confirm your ventilation system is operating correctly. Adding a whole-house humidifier helps during dry Ohio winters. UV germicidal lights installed inside your ductwork reduce bacteria, mold, and other airborne contaminants that recirculate through the home.
Look for rusty or discolored water from the hot tap, popping or rumbling sounds from the tank, puddles forming around the base, or inconsistent water temperature. Most storage tank water heaters last 8 to 12 years. If yours is older than that, replacement is typically more cost-effective than continued repairs. Jonle is always there when we need them, on time, professional, and clean. Recently Jason got our thermostat back online and took the time to explain itt to me.
We needed fire hydrant repair. For privately owned hydrants. I have used them multiple times they are always absolutely the best.
They were able to get me in and taken care of very ppromptly. Definitely the best service I have had done. Highly recommend.
I've used Waterworks 5 times now, and will again when I need plumbing work. Most recently, I needed a leak under a bathroom sink fixed and I also needed a new faucet. Todd Shepherd did a fantastic job! Very happy.
We have used Waterworks Plumbing for multiple commercial repairs and they have always done a tremendous job!
Mr Victor Gonzalez was awesome he did a great job and taking the time to explain everything
The service person who came was very kind and on time. I was hoping there was record of what electrician they had come out to install the outlet for my sump pump they installed 6 years ago, but they said they don't keep records that long ago which was unfortunate, since it the faulty outlet that stopped the sump pump from working which then caused my basement to flood.
Great service! The technician, Noah Pettit, showed up on time, explained what he was going to do, and then did it in a thoroughly professional manner. He was very friendly and courteous throughout.
Our technician, Wade, was exceptionally professional and knowledgeable. Despite having to work in a very tight space, he took extra care and spent additional time ensuring that nothing was damaged. His attention to detail and commitment to quality were greatly appreciated.
We have used JonLe for a very long time, over 20 years. Everyone has been friendly and very helpful. Will Ross was our technician this time. He was punctual and notified us that he was on his way. He answered our questions and did a great job with our A/C maintenance service. Thank you, Will!
I had a really positive experience with Water Works. They are one of the few places which will take Sunday calls. I called and the person I spoke to was professional. The technician Luke was out the next morning. The clog was cleared promptly. Thanks!
Mr. Sheppard did a FANTASTIC job. He took his time, was happy, friendly and respectful he explained what he was doing, explained our humidifier, air cleaner and thermostat (we just moved into a new home and no papers were left.) We would like to have him our system in the spring.
Our service tech Will did a great job. He was thorough and explained what he was doing
Excellent service; efficient with good explanation with digital photo of completed cleaning.
Fast and very thorough! The technician explained everything and let me know exactly what was going on the whole time.
Jon Le has been our go-to for annual AC/heating maintenance. Always quick to schedule and they listen to our concerns when we do have them.
I called this morning (Sunday) no doubt and they were courteous and on time and the tech guy pointed out the problems within seconds and will be back Tuesday hopefully to fix the problem. Thanks
Mat BALL CAME OUT TO GIVE US AN IDEA OF HOW wATERWORKS COULD FIX OUR PROBLEM. hE WAS VERY NICE AND HELPFUL. WE AE CONSIDERING THE PLANS HE OFFERED US.
Jordan called before he got here, went right to work, cleared the drain̈, put everything back together, tested and left work space clean. Very nice young man.
Excellent service and responded to our service call less than four hours and technician was very professional. We had a clogged tub drain
I never hesitate to call The Waterworks for any of my downspout, drainage, or other needs. They’re professional, honest, and find the most efficient solution. Today, Travis was out to my house, listened to my concerns, took the time to thoroughly investigate the possible causes. He even got on a ladder to check my very full gutter!! One problem solved—just like that! What a gentleman!! I’m so grateful.
Jordan came out, scoped the downspout pipes that were clogged up, removed a bunch of roots and other debris, and also cleaned out the rock-filter box by the road that the pipes dump the water into. (Water had been pouring over our gutters during rains so we assumed the pipes were plugged up before calling Waterworks.) He did a great job and is a super nice young man! 👏👏
We had Mark here for a/c maintenance and he was very knowledgeable about what we need to do to keep our 27 year old a/c running as long as possible. We appreciate his sharing his knowledge to help us limp our system along.
Jonle Heating & Cooling is a company you can trust! All my experiences with the have been positive. Friendly, knowledgeable technicians who know their stuff. I am on a maintenance program that service my heating and cooling systems. They keep them in top shape.
Jason was very friendly and knowledgeable. He shared his findings in a way that was easy to understand and had no problem explaining anything I couldn't. His recommendations seemed based on what was best for my home and my family!
Always on time and courteous. They always explain what exactly they do or what the problem is in laymen’s terms so I understand my options.
The servicemen did a great job. He found my leak when I had another service out here that did not find it so thank you thank you thank you
Todd was my technician and he did an excellent job. I needed my sink unclogged today and nobody was able to help me except Waterworks. I’ve used this company for over 35 years in my place of business and always trusted their reliability and quality of work.
I’ve used Waterworks a few times now and have always had excellent service, problems fixed quickly and prices have always been reasonable. When I have plumbing issues Waterworks is the first company I call. John was out today to fix and replace our sump pump and did a great job!
Easy to schedule service, but price is high. It seemed like the tech made up the price on the spot. Works was well done. Great in a pinch but I would shop around if there is time.
The service man was very prompt, polite professional, and got the job done!
I called in a panick with water in my basement and the technician was out to my house in less than 2 hours on a holiday weekend.
Matt Sunnenberg did a wonderful job diagnosing the problem with our AC. He knew what the issue was before opening the compartment to show me the AC coil unit. 19 years old and the rust and decay of the unit was amassing to see. Matt explained all of our options and the cost involved. His advice to replace all of the AC components made the most sense and we felt most confident in his recommendation. Because of the delay in getting the new AC unit ordered and installed, Matt did us a big favor by adding enough Freon to our existing unit in order to keep the house cool temporarily. Thank you, Mike
The appointment couldn't have gone better. It appears that the hose from the water softener had come loose from the drain pipe and that's what was causing the water problem. Thanks for coming out . I hope the problem was taken care of. I wasnt charged as he was there for less than 15 minutes.
We have been dealing with this company for 30 years. They are top notch and all their technicians are very professional and knowledgeable. We subscribe to their maintenance contracts and as a result we have never had a breakdown. They don't try to sell you stuff that you don't need.
We have used Jonle for all our HVAC needs for many years. They are always responsive, on time, respectful of your property, and do what they say they are going to do. We highly recommend them.
Jonle was wonderful to work with from the start. Patrick was excellent- knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and quickly followed up with a quote and timeframe even though the service manager was out of the office that day. I received prompt communication the next morning about the tech’s arrival window, additional text reminders, and even a call the following morning asking if we’d like to move up our timeframe due to a cancellation. Our service tech Chad was kind, professional, got the job done quickly and spent time answering my questions & talking me through everything. I felt very confident in the work he did and information he provided. Their pricing was competitive and significantly better than one of “bigger” names out there (a company we will never be using again now that we’ve found Jonle). It was more in line with other fairly priced companies. Everything was excellent from start to finish and we will use them again in the future and also recommend to others!
