HVAC & Plumbing Services in Lancaster, OH — Fast Repairs
When your heat goes out on a freezing January night or a sewer line backs up without warning, you need a licensed contractor who can show up quickly and fix it right. Lancaster is the county seat of Fairfield County, located roughly 35 miles southeast of Columbus along US-33. The city has a rich industrial history, and its residential neighborhoods reflect that legacy — many homes in areas like Ewing Park, the West Side, and the historic districts near downtown were built in the early to mid-1900s. Older properties throughout Lancaster often still run on aging plumbing infrastructure and original HVAC equipment that was never designed to last this long. The Waterworks Plumbing, Drain, Heating & Cooling provides full-service HVAC and plumbing services in Lancaster, OH to homeowners, rental property owners, landlords, and local businesses in 43130.

Your Local Plumbing and HVAC Contractor in Lancaster
Lancaster properties come with challenges that are specific to the region’s age, climate, and construction history. Homes near Memorial Drive, Maple Avenue, and the Sheridan Drive corridors were built decades ago with galvanized steel supply lines, cast iron drain pipes, and single-zone heating systems that were standard for their era but are well past their service life. Properties in older subdivisions on the city’s east and west sides often sit on crawl spaces or slab foundations where pipe damage and slow leaks go undetected until they cause serious structural problems. Historic homes closer to downtown Lancaster face the added complexity of outdated wiring, narrow mechanical rooms, and mixed-generation plumbing that has been patched and extended over multiple decades.
Delaying repairs compounds the cost. A slow drain becomes a full sewer backup. A furnace running on a cracked heat exchanger pushes carbon monoxide through the home’s living spaces. A small water line leak inside a crawl space leads to mold growth and wood rot that takes far longer and costs far more to remediate than the original pipe repair.
The Waterworks has served Central Ohio since 1986. Our technicians are state-licensed, background-checked, and trained to work on both residential and commercial systems. We provide straightforward pricing before any work begins, so there are no surprises on the final invoice.

Common HVAC & Plumbing Problems in Lancaster Homes
Older homes throughout Lancaster’s established neighborhoods share a predictable set of issues. These are the problems our technicians encounter most often:
Slow or backed-up drains: Mature trees throughout Lancaster’s older neighborhoods send roots into aging clay and cast iron sewer pipes. Grease accumulation in kitchen drain lines compounds the blockage over time. Video camera inspection identifies the location before any digging begins.
Low water pressure: Galvanized steel supply pipes corrode from the inside out, narrowing the interior passage and restricting flow to faucets and fixtures. Repiping with copper or PEX restores full water pressure and eliminates the risk of a pipe failure.
Uneven heating or cooling: Older ductwork in Lancaster’s two-story and ranch-style homes develops gaps at joints and elbows over time. Single-zone HVAC systems cannot maintain consistent temperatures across multiple floors or large floor plans. Duct sealing and zoning upgrades address the problem without replacing the entire system.
Furnace short-cycling: Dirty flame sensors, clogged filters, or a failing thermostat cause the furnace to turn on and off repeatedly without completing a full heating cycle. Short-cycling wastes energy and accelerates wear on the heat exchanger and blower motor.
Water heater running out of hot water: Sediment accumulates at the bottom of storage tank water heaters over the years, reducing heating capacity and forcing the burner to work harder. Tanks in Lancaster homes from the 1970s and 1980s are well past their expected service life.
Frozen or burst pipes: Exposed supply lines in uninsulated crawl spaces and exterior walls of older Lancaster homes are vulnerable during Central Ohio cold snaps. Rapid response limits water damage to floors, walls, and structural framing.
Slab leaks: Homes built on concrete slab foundations in Lancaster can develop leaks in the copper supply lines that run beneath the slab. Early detection through pressure testing and acoustic equipment prevents extensive concrete and floor damage.

Frequently Asked Questions About HVAC & Plumbing in Lancaster
Locate and shut off the main water valve immediately. This stops the flow and limits damage to floors, walls, and ceilings. Then call (614) 490-2149 for emergency plumbing service. Our team responds quickly to Lancaster addresses in 43130 and surrounding Fairfield County communities.

Lancaster and Fairfield County require permits for certain plumbing projects, including water line installation, gas line work, and sewer connections. As a state-licensed contractor, The Waterworks manages the permit process on your behalf so you do not have to coordinate with the city yourself.
Start with a clean HVAC filter and confirm your ventilation system is operating correctly. Adding a whole-house humidifier helps combat the dry air that comes with Ohio winters. UV germicidal lights installed in your ductwork reduce airborne bacteria and mold that cycle through the home every time the system runs.
Watch for rusty or discolored water from hot taps, popping or rumbling sounds coming from the tank, puddles around the base of the unit, or water that no longer heats consistently. Most storage tank water heaters last 8 to 12 years. If yours is approaching or past that range, replacement is typically more cost-effective than repeated repairs. Called yesterday for appointment and technician arrived this afternoon. Extremely competent and professional. Resolved concern quickly. The service we always receive from Jonle is exemplary.
The Waterworks plumbing company provided a pleasant and efficient plumber to open up my outside drain from the street to the sump pump. They did this for me about five years ago. My service man was very professional and took care to do his best. Price increased significantly in five years but otherwise, I’m satisfied with the outcome. They did however, offer once again a senior discount.
Most reliable plumbing service in Columbus. Pricing is fair, technicians are friendly and seem to really care about fixing your situation long-term.

Michael came to our home today to fix a slow leak under our kitchen sink. He ended up looking at a strange sound emanating from the tub faucet in our master bathroom, quoting the replacement of several sump pumps, and a drain repair. All those quotes arrived the same day. In a world that seems to have forgotten service excellence, I give Michael and Waterworks an A+ for today’s performance.
We had issues with out lift station at one of our communities and they were able to come to the same day. Very friendly and professional. I highly recommend them!
We've used Waterworks' services for many years and they're consistently professional, timely, courteous, and proficient. Most recently, Lonnie delivered great service and advice; greatly appreciated! You may find a cheaper way to go, but for my money, they are my go to.
