The official first day of fall is only 9 days away, and the nights are getting cooler. In no time at all, it will be time to turn on your furnace. Before you fire it up for the first time, check your furnace filter and change the filter, if necessary.

Changing your furnace filter is easy

At the bottom of your furnace, you’ll find access to the filter housing. Remove the old filter and insert the new one. When you insert the new one, make sure the arrow on the filter edge points toward the blower motor.

How often?

You should check your furnace filter at least one a month and change it every three months – or more often if one of your family members suffers from allergies or asthma. Well maintained filters help guard your family from dust, pollutants and allergens.

And, just as important, changing your furnace filter regularly will help keep your furnace running smoothly and efficiently – especially on those cold winter nights when you need it most.
