4 household cleansers you can make yourself

Run out of household cleaning products and don’t really feel like going to the store? Here are some environmentally-friendly cleaners made from common household products that you can quickly mix up yourself.

All purpose cleaner

Mix 4 tablespoons of baking soda with one quart of warm water. Pour the solution on a sponge and wipe down surfaces that need cleaned. This is a great solution for cleaning your refrigerator, appliances, and kitchen and bathroom counters.

Glass cleaner

Combine 2 cups of water, ½ cup white vinegar, and ¼ cup rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. Spray this mixture on windows or mirrors and wipe with a clean, soft cloth.

Grease cleaner

Mix ½ a cup of ammonia with about a gallon of hot water. Dip a sponge or mop in the solution. Wipe over the surface, and then rinse the area with water.

Marble and natural stone cleaner

Use a drop or two of mild dishwashing liquid in 2 cups of warm water. Use a sponge to wipe over the marble or stone. Rinse completely with water and then buff the surface with a soft cloth.
